Program

Engineering

For the engineering component of this initiative, we aim to give students an early introduction to designing parts using computer-aided design (CAD), as it is used in real-world applications today. CAD is a critical tool across industries, from designing small components to developing complex systems such as aircraft. Throughout the program, students will explore the real-world applications of CAD while learning the fundamentals of the engineering design process. Over the course of four weeks, they will develop their skills using Tinkercad, a free, online CAD platform, where they will create a variety of designs before completing a final project of their choice. Ultimately, our goal is to foster creativity and curiosity in young engineers as they learn to design, build, and innovate using CAD.

Computer Science

For the computer science component of this initiative, we aim to give students an engaging introduction to programming using industry-standard languages such as Java and Python. Students will write and run code through online compilers as well as professional development environments like Visual Studio Code, giving them a feel for the tools used by real software engineers today. Beyond core programming, students will also get hands-on experience with web development, building small but functional projects and websites to understand how the internet works from the ground up. Additionally, the program integrates lessons on Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning, offering students a look into how these technologies function under the hood. Ultimately, our goal is to spark curiosity and confidence in young programmers as they explore, create, and discover the endless possibilities of computer science.
